Hapag-Lloyd has announced a significant General Rate Increase (GRI) for cargo transported from the Indian Subcontinent and the Middle East to North America, effective July 15, 2024. This GRI, also referred to as General Rate Adjustment (GRA), will affect 20’ and 40’ Dry, Reefer, and Special containers, including High Cube equipment.

The new rates will be:

• $1000 per container for shipments to North America's East & Gulf Coast

• $2000 per container for shipments to North America's West Coast

This rate adjustment applies to all containers gated in full from the specified date and will continue until further notice. The regions impacted by this change include:

• Indian Subcontinent & Middle East: India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, UAE, Qatar, Bahrain, Oman, Kuwait, Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Jordan

• North America: United States, Canada
