In June, the Alexandria Navigation Chamber met with members of the committee formed under Egyptian Tax Authority decision No. 373 of 2020 to review the proposed average sea freight rates for containers arriving at Egyptian ports from various global destinations for the months of July, August, and September.

These rates are part of the collaboration protocol between the Egyptian Customs Authority, the Tax Authority, and the Alexandria Navigation Chamber. This protocol aims to implement the VAT law and determine the application mechanism of VAT on sea freight services performed on exempted goods, machinery, and equipment.

For shipments to Ain Sokhna, the rates are $4,200 per 20-foot dry container, $5,600 per 40-foot dry container, $4,900 per 20-foot refrigerated container, and $5,800 per 40-foot refrigerated container. From Southeast Asia, including China, Japan, and Korea, to Alexandria, the rates are $4,000 per 20-foot dry container, $5,200 per 40-foot dry container, $4,800 per 20-foot refrigerated container, and $5,800 per 40-foot refrigerated container. The same rates apply to Damietta and Port Said.

For shipments from Southeast Asia to Ain Sokhna, the rates are also $4,000 per 20-foot dry container and $5,200 per 40-foot dry container, with refrigerated containers at $4,800 per 20-foot and $5,800 per 40-foot.

From Southern Europe, including France, Italy, Spain, Slovenia, Greece, Cyprus, and Serbia, to Alexandria, rates are $500 per 20-foot dry container, $750 per 40-foot dry container, $300 per 20-foot refrigerated container, and $4,000 per 40-foot refrigerated container. To Port Said and Damietta, the rates are $500 per 20-foot dry container, $750 per 40-foot dry container, $2,200 per 20-foot refrigerated container, and $3,300 per 40-foot refrigerated container. To Ain Sokhna, the rates are $140 per 20-foot dry container, $280 per 40-foot dry container, $210 per 20-foot refrigerated container, and $420 per 40-foot refrigerated container.

From Tunisia, Algeria, and Morocco to Alexandria, rates are $700-$850 per 20-40 foot dry container and $5,000-$6,200 per 20-40 foot refrigerated container. To Alexandria and Damietta, the rates are $700-$850 per 20-40 foot dry container and $314-$542 per 20-40 foot refrigerated container. To Ain Sokhna, the rates are $700-$850 per 20-40 foot dry container and $850-$1,200 per 20-40 foot refrigerated container.

For shipments from South Africa to Alexandria, the rates are $1,200 per 20-foot dry container, $1,325 per 40-foot dry container, $7,000 per 20-foot refrigerated container, and $8,500 per 40-foot refrigerated container. To Damietta and Port Said, the rates are $1,200 per 20-foot dry container, $1,325 per 40-foot dry container, and $1,197 per 20-40 foot refrigerated container.

From Sohar, Oman to Damietta and Port Said, the rates are $1,900 per 20-foot dry container, $2,700 per 40-foot dry container, $1,800 per 20-foot refrigerated container, and $2,600 per 40-foot refrigerated container. To Ain Sokhna, the rates are $1,900 per 20-foot dry container and $2,700 per 40-foot dry container.
