Hapag-Lloyd has announced an increase in sea freight rates from the Far East to the Middle East and Europe, including Egyptian ports. This rate increase will take effect starting in March on both dry and reefer containers in 20- and 40-foot sizes. The increase involves setting rates for shipping routes from the Far East to ports in the Eastern Mediterranean and the Black Sea, which include ports in Bulgaria, Romania, Turkey, and Egypt. Dry container rates will reach $3,200 for a 20‑foot container and $5,300 for a 40‑foot container, while reefer container rates will be $3,400 for a 20‑foot container and $5,700 for a 40‑foot container.
