French shipping giant CMA CGM has announced an increase in container shipping rates from the Indian subcontinent, the Arabian Gulf, the Red Sea, and Egypt to the US East Coast and the Gulf of Mexico. The additional charge is $1,200 per container.
In a statement to its customers, the company clarified that the new rates, originally planned to take effect on December 5, 2024, will now be implemented starting on February 1, 2025. The increase applies to containers originating from the specified regions and destined for the US East Coast and the Gulf of Mexico, with the revised charge set at $1,200 per container instead of the previously proposed $1,500 in December.
