Maersk, the global shipping line, has announced the introduction of new surcharges on ocean freight and peak season charges from Middle East and Indian Subcontinent ports to the U.S. East Coast.
According to the company’s official statement, starting October 2, an additional USD 1,200 will be applied to dry and reefer containers, whether 20ft or 40ft.
For reefer containers, an extra charge of USD 3,000 will also be imposed.
The new surcharges will apply to shipments from the following countries:
United Arab Emirates, Bangladesh, Bahrain, Bhutan, India, Iraq, Jordan, Kuwait, Sri Lanka, Maldives, Nepal, Oman, Pakistan, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and Yemen.
