The Benjamin Franklin ship, operated by CMA CGM, encountered severe weather near the coast of South Africa during its journey from Asia to Europe. As a result, the ship lost 44 containers overboard and 30 other containers were damaged.

CMA CGM reported that the ship's crew is safe and no injuries occurred. The company notified the relevant authorities for a thorough assessment of the ship, which was conducted, and the vessel continued its journey safely.

CMA CGM explained that normally ships travel from the Red Sea or the Suez Canal when heading from Asia to Europe. However, due to the Red Sea crisis, the vessels had to reroute to the Cape of Good Hope.
