The Indian Navy has confirmed the sinking of the Liberian-flagged container vessel MSC ELSA 3 off the southern coast of Kerala earlier today. The ship was carrying 640 containers, including 13 with hazardous materials and 12 containing calcium carbide, a chemical compound widely used in industrial applications.
