Egyptian food industry exports to grow by 17% in 2024 to reach $5.5 billion
The Food Industries Export Council announced that the value of Egyptian food industry exports increased by 17% during the period from January to November 2024, reaching $5.5 billion compared to $4.7 billion in the same period last year. This growth represents an increase of $813 million, recording the highest export value and the highest growth rate in the history of the sector, exceeding the total exports in 2023 of $5.068 billion, an increase of $474 million.
Top export destinations
Arab countries maintained their lead in the list of importers of Egyptian food industries, as the value of exports to these countries amounted to $2.936 billion, representing 53% of total exports, with a growth of 15%. The European Union came in second place with exports amounting to $1.083 billion, representing 20% of total exports, with a growth of 33%. Egypt's exports to non-Arab African countries amounted to $464 million (8% of total exports), with a growth rate of 7%, while exports to the United States of America amounted to $302 million (5% of total exports), with a remarkable growth rate of 40%. Other international markets contributed $756 million, representing 14% of total exports, with a growth rate of 8%.
Major Importing Countries
Saudi Arabia topped the list of the largest importing countries of Egyptian food industries, with exports to it amounting to $434 million, with a growth rate of 16%. Sudan came in second place with exports amounting to $363 million (with a growth rate of 20%), followed by the United States of America with $302 million (with a growth rate of 40%), Libya with $290 million (with a growth rate of 19%), and Palestine with $275 million (with a growth rate of 26%). Exports to the Netherlands also saw strong growth of 104% to $241 million, Jordan up 28% to $221 million, Morocco up 80% to $201 million, Iraq up $177 million (10%), and Yemen in tenth place with $175 million (1%).
