Amreya Dry Port has opened in Alexandria to support trade and ease pressure on seaports. It moves part of the storage, handling and logistics procedures away from the quays.
The port was built on an area of 146,000 square meters, with investments of up to EGP 700 million. It is located near Alexandria and Dekheila ports, close to the railway network and the high-speed electric train route.
The port offers a range of logistics facilities and services, including:
A 75,000 square meter container yard that holds about 3,086 forty-foot containers. 826 power points for reefer containers. A cold storage complex with a capacity of up to 10,000 tons and temperatures down to -23°C. Dry warehouses for general cargo. A storage area for about 600 vehicles. A parking yard for 38 trucks. A 100-ton electronic weighbridge.
The port is connected to the Nafeza platform for electronic customs clearance. Development plans also aim to link it to the railway network, which supports multimodal transport and cuts the time and cost of moving cargo.
Amreya is the second dry port to operate in Egypt’s dry port network, after 6th of October Dry Port. It is part of a wider plan to develop logistics corridors and connect production areas with seaports and distribution centers.
