Alexandria Port Authority is preparing to hand over the container terminal project at Berth 100 in El Dekheila Port to a global consortium led by Hutchison Ports, with MSC, CMA CGM, and COSCO as partners. The handover follows the authority's completion of the terminal's infrastructure works.
The handover will allow the consortium to begin the superstructure phase, which includes supplying and installing cranes, electronic systems, and the equipment needed to operate the terminal.
The development comes alongside the Chinese President's visit to Egypt, and places three of the world's largest shipping lines as direct partners in operating one of the main container terminals on Egypt's Mediterranean coast.
