COSCO Shipping and OOCL have launched a new container service named CJX, connecting China with the Red Sea and providing direct shipping to Saudi Arabia. The service operates on the following rotation: Shanghai, Ningbo, Nansha, Jeddah, and back to Shanghai.
The service is expected to improve transit times between manufacturers in China and importers in the region, drawing on Jeddah Islamic Port's position as a main distribution hub for the Middle East and East Africa. It also adds capacity on the China to Red Sea corridor, which feeds into the transhipment options available to Egyptian importers sourcing from Chinese ports.
