Hapag-Lloyd introduced a peak season surcharge on shipments from the Far East to North Europe and the Mediterranean, effective 8 June until further notice. The carrier confirmed the surcharge applies to all container types, including dry, reefer, and special equipment, as well as out-of-gauge cargo. The new rates stand at $500 per 20ft container and $1,000 per 40ft container. Hapag-Lloyd noted that existing fuel, security, and terminal handling charges remain unchanged, with the possibility of additional local or emergency surcharges depending on the specific market.
