Egyptian Customs Extends ACI Exemption for Indirect Transit Shipments by 6 Months

The Egyptian Customs Authority extended the exemption of indirect transit shipments destined outside Egypt from the Advance Cargo Information (ACI) system for an additional 6 months, effective 10 June 2026.

Under the decision, these shipments remain exempt from the requirement to obtain an Advance Cargo Information Declaration (ACID) number, in line with current applicable controls and conditions.

The exemption scope was also expanded to cover indirect transit shipments to and from Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Rwanda, Djibouti, and Ethiopia, supporting transit trade flows through Egyptian ports and strengthening their role as a regional logistics hub.

Customs clarified that applying the exemption requires submitting a non-tampering certificate among the transit declaration documents, to be completed and approved during procedures and before final cargo release.
