French carrier CMA CGM has announced new surcharges across several of its services, effective May 2026, impacting shippers across multiple trade lanes.
Australia-bound shipments from North Europe, the Mediterranean, Adriatic, Black Sea, and North Africa will be subject to a surcharge of $350 per TEU on direct services, effective 7 May 2026 until further notice.
For US-bound shipments, CMA CGM will apply a Peak Season Surcharge (PSS) on cargo originating from the Eastern Mediterranean, effective 1 May 2026. Affected origins include:
- Egypt, Turkey, Greece, Lebanon, and select Eastern European markets
PSS rates:
- $1,050 per 20' container
- $2,100 per 40', 40'HC, and 45' container
The surcharges apply to all cargo types, with the exception of out-of-gauge (OOG) shipments.
Shippers on these trade lanes should factor these additional costs into their May bookings and beyond.
