Egyptian Customs Exempts Indirect Transit Shipments from ACID System for Three Months

The Egyptian Customs Authority announces the exemption of indirect transit shipments with final destinations outside Egypt from the Advance Cargo Information (ACID) requirement for a period of three months, in light of current regional developments and their impact on trade flows.

The decision is issued through an official directive by the Head of the Customs Authority, Ahmed Amway, and applies to shipments arriving at Egyptian ports for transit through Egypt to ports such as Nuweiba, Ain Sokhna, and Safaga, and then onward to final destinations in West Asia (GCC countries), as well as shipments coming from those countries and heading to global destinations.

The decision is implemented under specific conditions, including clearly stating the final destination outside Egypt in shipping manifests and bills of lading, and ensuring full compliance by shipping agents and freight forwarders with all indirect transit procedures.

These shipments are also granted priority in customs clearance, provided that both trading parties (exporter and importer) are located outside Egypt.
