Ports under the Saudi Ports Authority (Mawani) recorded a 2.01% increase in container throughput during January 2026, reaching 738,111 TEUs compared to the same period in 2025. Transshipment containers rose significantly by 22.44% to 184,019 TEUs.
However, import containers declined by 3.23% to 284,375 TEUs, while export containers fell by 3.47% to 269,717 TEUs.
In terms of cargo volumes, liquid bulk increased by 0.28% to 14.1 million tons, while total handled tonnage declined by 3.04% to 19.2 million tons. Vessel calls also decreased by 1.75% to 1,121 ships.
