CMA CGM announced the implementation of Emergency Operational Recovery charges on shipments destined for West Africa, citing recent operational challenges in Europe and the Mediterranean due to adverse weather conditions and terminal closures. The surcharge has been effective since 9 February 2026 on cargo departing from Northern Europe, the Mediterranean, the Black Sea, and North Africa. The charge amounts to USD 300, EUR 250, or GBP 250 per container and applies to all cargo types, including dry containers, reefers, out-of-gauge (OOG) cargo, and special shipments.
