Damietta Alliance Container Terminals (DACT) announced the start of commercial operations at its new terminal in Damietta Port, welcoming its first vessel, Essen Express, operated by Hapag-Lloyd, on 14 February 2026.
The terminal is primarily dedicated to transshipment activities, expected to account for around 80% of total operations, while 20% will serve import and export cargo supporting the Egyptian and regional markets, including the Levant and the Black Sea.
Upon completion of all development phases, the terminal’s capacity is projected to reach 3.3 million TEUs annually, supported by 1,670 meters of quay length, 18-meter depth, and electric and hybrid equipment designed to support sustainable operations.
