MSC Updates Freight Rates from the Far East to Northern Europe and the Mediterranean

 
The shipping company MSC announced an update to its freight rates for shipments moving from Far East ports to Northern European and Mediterranean ports

According to a company notice, the new rates will take effect starting January 15. Freight rates from the Far East to Northern Europe will reach USD 2,400 per 20-foot container and USD 4,000 per 40-foot container. Rates to Adriatic ports will be set at USD 4,000 per 20-foot container and USD 5,700 per 40-foot container

MSC also stated that new freight rates from the Far East to Eastern Mediterranean ports, including Egyptian Mediterranean ports, will be USD 3,500 per 20-foot container and USD 5,500 per 40-foot container

For shipments destined to Black Sea ports, rates will reach USD 3,550 per 20-foot container and USD 5,600 per 40-foot container. Rates to Algerian ports will be USD 5,300 per 20-foot container and USD 8,200 per 40-foot container

In addition, freight rates from the Far East to Libyan ports will be USD 5,000 per 20-foot container and USD 7,600 per 40-foot container, while rates to Moroccan ports will be USD 4,500 per 20-foot container and USD 6,600 per 40-foot container. Rates to Tunisian ports will stand at USD 5,000 per 20-foot container and USD 7,600 per 40-foot container

The company added that freight rates will be subject to additional surcharges, including USD 70 as a Global Fuel Surcharge (GFS), USD 15 as an emissions surcharge for the Mediterranean and Northern Europe region (including Poland, Denmark, Sweden, Ireland, Belgium, Germany, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, and France), as well as USD 52 per TEU for shipments to Northern and Baltic countries.
